A crisis can be stressful in many ways for a parent looking after a child. Hold on to your daily routines if possible.
Plan situations ahead of time with the child. Listen to their ideas. You can also plan the entire day together.
You can make the day run more smoothly by using the WHEN–THEN phrase. E.g. When you’ve eaten, then we will go outside.
In unusual circumstances it’s worth remembering not to demand perfection from yourself or your children. Be kind to yourself and your family! Praise and encourage. Give your child positive feedback as soon as you see them acting the way you want. Also praise them for a good attempt.
Try to do nice things together, spend time outside, watch films, play games, draw, play, build a fort, sing, read.
