1 Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The University of Turku is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Web Accessibility Directive of the European Parliament and the Council. In Finland, the Web Accessibility Directive is implemented by the Act on the Provision of Digital Services.

This accessibility statement applies to the Let’s Cope Together (https://yhdessaselviydytaan.fi) website.

1.1 Compliance status

The website is partially compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard. Non-compliance and exemptions are listed below.

1.2 Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

1.2.1 Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Perceivable: Insufficient contrasts

In some areas of the website the contrasts are insufficient, so it might be challenging for users with impaired eyesight to see and distinguish texts, backgrounds, and elements. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.4.3 and 1.4.11 (Contrast (Minimum), Contrast (Enhanced), Non-text Contrast).

Our aim is to build a feature which adjusts the contrast or changes the Voimaperheet theme in a way that fulfils the contrast requirement during 2022. When publishing new content, we make sure that the contrasts fulfil the accessibility requirements.

Accessibility requirements which are not met

  • 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum)
  • 1.4.11 Non-text Contrast

Perceivable: All feature buttons do not have a text alternative

The buttons for the theme listings, which are used to access the content, have no text alternatives. This means that screen readers are unable to interpret the function of the button correctly.

The icons for the “next” and “back” buttons on the theme page have no alt-text.

Accessibility requirements which are not met

  • 1.1.1 Non-text Content

Operable: Heading labels missing on content page

Inaccessible content and its shortcomings

The heading order of the themes’ text content is not completely logical. This fails WCAG success criteria 1.3.1, 2.4.1, 2.4.2 and 2.4.6 (Info and Relationships (Level AA), Focus Order (Level A) and Headings and Labels (Level AA)).

Accessibility requirements which are not met

  • 2.4.1 Bypass Blocks
  • 2.4.6 Headings and Labels
  • 2.4.2 Page Titles

2 Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was created 10.3.2022. The accessibility of the website has been assessed by Sofokus Oy, as commissioned by the Research Centre for Child Psychiatry.

The website was tested using Webaim's Wave and Google Chrome's Lighthouse software. The website was tested according to the user’s path from the front page to the theme contents, which matches the purpose of the website.
